Not able to get the index of the nested ng-repeat

Hello,
I tried to get the index of the nested ng-repeat using $index,but this is not working correctly.
ng-init is working correct but its not updating if the array size changes.

Please let me know how to fix this issue.

Hi, please provide an example that reproduces the issue you are seeing via plunker, jsfiddle or something similar.

I think that this is valid. I don't have time to create plunker but this should help someone create a reduction:

<div ng-repeat="family in families">
  <span ng-init="familyOrderNo = $index">{{family.name}}</span>
  <div ng-repeat="person in family">
    <span ng-init="personOrderNo = $index">{{familyOrderNo}} / {{personOrderNo}</span>
  </div>
</div>

render this with some list of families and then reorder the families array or unshift a new family into the list - the order numbers won't change because they are static.

the workaround is to create a directive to use instead of ng-init. The directive will $index and update it on the current scope as familyOrderNo every time $index changes.

A while ago it was proposed to extend the microsyntax to allow specifying the name for $index and friends (but since there are like 5 special properties, it's not clear how to make this "nice") --- something like that would probably be the easiest fix though.

Other ideas:

• New alternative directive to ng-init (lets say ng-alias?) which could work like ng-alias="$index as myIndex", watching $index and updating myIndex whenever it changed
• Having an $$aliases object in scope. When an assign() expression is invoked, the aliased variables in scope are updated with the same value, completely separate from dirty-checking (might cause issues with dirty-checking though). This would still probably depend on a new directive to use instead of ng-init though.
