'sasl/sasl.h': No such file or directory

Hi,

Module installation is failing with "sasl/sasl.h: No such file or directory" error. It seems like the 'sasl/saslwrapper.h' is looking for this file in the include statement added in the following commit.

268e8b4#diff-d6e261b9c64cb83f3a539d319c7c7573

Could you please add this file.

In ubuntu I just had to install libsasl2-dev using sudo apt-get install libsasl2-dev first and then it worked fine.

Does anyone know what would be needed on windows-10 in order to build this sasl package?
Same error mentioned when pip attempts to build with "Microsoft Visual C++ Build Tools" on a windows-10 machine...

It should be possible to build Cyrus SASL on Windows, according to its documentation: https://github.com/cyrusimap/cyrus-sasl/blob/a162471d0edb390f5b233b25067773df0b3b99a4/docsrc/sasl/windows.rst.

Personally, I'd go for Windows subsystem for Linux environment, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/wsl2-about, and then follow the Ubuntu instructions.

Is there another way to install sasl without sudo? I'm trying to install this on ubuntu-latest image. I don’t have permissions to run this sudo command (E: Could not open lock file /var/cache/apt/archives/lock - open (13: Permission denied))

That error means that you are actually not running the command under sudo.
