Sentry V5 not linking on RN 0.65 Android

I have following issue:

Installing Sentry v 5.3.1 (everything above 4.15.0/since new architecture was added) fails to link.

Steps to reproduce:

• Init 0.65.3 RN Project
• Install Sentry

Actual result:

Not linked. Android Starts with native client is not available.
On iOS when running pod install it removed all references to sentry.

Expected result:

To work? Or did I misread the documentation where it states V5+ supports 0.65 and above?

Trying to upgrade and just ran into the same issue on 0.66.5

thank you for the message. I've tested it with a new 0.65.3 app and the SDK got linked correctly.

Can you share a minimal reproducible example? Or step on how to reproduce it?

Sure I can do that, even both :-)

Steps:

1. Create 0.65.3 Project with npx react-native init Test065Sentry --version 0.65.3
2. Add Sentry 5.3.1 with yarn add @sentry/react-native
3. Run sentry wizard npx @sentry/wizard -i reactNative -p ios android and ignore the warning about incompatible react-native version (doc states 0.65 is supported)
4. Run npx pod-install (does not install sentry pods 🤷 )

If I do it like that, iOS doesn't work, but Android seems to be setup. At least no warning about could not connect to Sentry native SDK on android and I see it in the gradle build.
On the already existing project which was using Sentry@4 Android doesn't seem to link after upgrading to 5.x nor does iOS.

I have attached the repo as zip created with the above steps (with replaced dsn/sentry properties)

Randomly ran into what I think is the same issue. Reverting to 4.15.0 fixed the error below. We're also on RN 0.65.3.
