need step by step guidance to upload product to server using Magento 2.0 API

Preconditions

1. I am new to Magento platform. I need to upload large number of product to website in Mangento version 2.0 using API. I have required credentials, as well as required keys with me. I have checked example on magento site, however it didn't worked for me. Could you please give me simple example using API. Step by Step guidance will be more preferable. Thanks in advance.

If you plan to use REST api, you can find examples of all the provided methods using swagger

You can see there for every request, what it's expected from you to send and what you'll get back from Magento.

Thanks for your reply Andrea (ziliquas). The link you have suggested is given for Magento version 1.x, however we are using Magento version 2.0. I am still unable to get the result. I think i am missing something, about which i don't have any idea. So could please suggest some beginner level info. for e.g. How to initiate Rest API Call (i have tried Rest plugin extension for Chrome, Firefox etc ). Is this right way to call Rest API?

Nope, the link I gave you is for magento 2.1.x or at least, if I open it, it gaves me the REST API document for the last version of magento.
