script is not auto rebuilt when imported module is modified

FWIW: rollup handles this built-in, if there were a way to defer more of the script into rollup

i tried to tackle this briefly but I really could barely get a grasp of the entrypoint and i'm not sure if lists of imports are even emitted as part of the processes currently used
