3.7.1 release procedure

• Publish artifacts to Maven via CI

  • Ensure scala-steward is blocking automatic upgrades for 3.7.1
  • On release-3.7.1 branch:
    • In project/Build.scala: Set baseVersion = "3.7.1" and ensure referenceVersion is set to stable version
    • In tasty/src/dotty/tools/tasty/TastyFormat.scala ensure MinorVersion is set to 7
    • In tasty/src/dotty/tools/tasty/TastyFormat.scala ensure ExperimentalVersion is set to stable (0)
    • Create changelog file in changelogs/3.7.1.md
    • Tag the branch as 3.7.1
    • Wait for CI to publish artifacts
    • Audit and release artifacts on https://central.sonatype.com/

• Wait for releases/confirmation from tooling:

  • Scala CLI - test
  • Scala Native - publish compiler plugin
  • Scastie - update available versions
  • Scala DAP - publish compiler plugin
  • Scalameta Parser - test chore: Update tested version to 3.7.1 scalameta/scalameta#4260

• On main branch:

  • Set mimaPreviousDottyVersion = "3.7.0"

• Prepare the documentation

  • Generate stable documentation for 3.7.1 using scaladoc and upload to remote server to 3.7.1/ directory
  • Add 3.7.1 to API docs versions.json
  • Update symlink 3.x to target 3.7.1/ directory

• Announce the release

  • Publish release on GitHub Releases (convert to public)
  • Publish an announcement for 3.7.1 blogpost on https://scala-lang.org/blog/announcements/
  • Update the tracking thread for 3.7.1 on https://contributors.scala-lang.org
  • Update https://docs.scala-lang.org/:
    • In _config.yml set scala-3-version: 3.7.1
    • In api/all.md in ## Previous releases section add entry for previous stable version
    • In _overviews/jdk-compatibility/overview.md - add entry for 3.7.1 if needed

• Update the ecosystem

  • Release 3.7.1 to SDKMAN
  • Release 3.7.1 to Chocolatey
  • Release 3.7.1 to WinGet
  • Update the templates and examples projects:
    • scala3-mill-example-project
    • scala3-cross.g8
    • scala3-staging.g8
    • scala3-tasty-inspector.g8
    • scala3.g8
  • Update Scala Steward config:
    • Unlock automatic upgrades for 3.7.1 Update Scala to 3.7.1 scala-steward-org/scala-steward#3651
    • Block automaitc upgrades for next planned version
  • Update Bazel Scala rules repositories config to use 3.7.1 Upgrade Scala versions 3.7.0 -> 3.7.1 bazel-contrib/rules_scala#1746
